NEWS OCTOBER 2019

Successful installation in Australia

Early September we successfully installed our first test of the system Pig Scale at Riverbend Pork Group in Australia. The system will validate the weighing algorithm and save images of any deviations from the intended growth curve. From now on, Riverbend Pork Group will weigh their pigs automatically saving money, time and resources.

Matts Lilja shows Andrew Morris how the system functions on pigs standing in a good position.

Additional tests

To conclude the test, we will detail the system at additional farms in Europe. If your farm is interested to join the test, contact Helena Björk at: helena@smartagritech.se

Smart AgriHubs

We are part of Smart Agrihubs, a huge EU project under the Horizon 2020, a consortium of 164 partners in the European agri-food sector. The project’s purpose is to help the digitisation of European agriculture by supporting innovation.

Our contribution to support this process is filmmaking. Together with a professional film team and a pig producer in Sweden, we made two films to help explain our innovation Pig Scale.

Next Project

As development of Pig Scale is getting into the final stages, we will soon start our next project: a system for digital classification of beef and sheep carcasses using basic camera technology.

The camera solution will provide accurate and fair assessment of the quality of beef and sheep according to the EUROP method. The patented system eliminates the need for visual inspection and provides an accurate, objective and efficient assessment.

Benefits are several. One is that slaughter houses can streamline the classification process substantially.
