100% Percent Electricity Generation through Renewable Energy by 2050: Assessment of Sri Lanka's Power Sector

Sri Lanka saw an increase in the share of renewable energy (RE) in the electricity mix, when in 2014, the country met its target of generating at least 10 percent of its electricity using renewable energy.

LMD releases ‘Most Respected’ corporate rankings

 The 13th edition of LMD’s Most Respected entities in Sri Lanka has been released, its publisher Media Services announced recently.

“Yet again, John Keells Holdings (JKH) is nominated as the Most Respected entity in the island with the highest number of golds for a record 12th year… JKH strengthened its position in 2017 with 296 gold nominations compared to 239 last year,” the magazine notes.

Chief of Defense Staff

Aug 19, Colombo: Sri Lanka President and Commander-In-Chief Maithripala Sirisena has appointed former Navy Commander Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne as the new Chief of Defense Staff.


New Navy Commander

After a gap of 47 years, Sri Lanka on Friday appointed a Tamil as the Commander of its navy.

Rear Admiral Travis Jeremy Liyanduru Sinniah, who was made navy chief by President Maithripala Sirisena, is the second Tamil to head the country’s navy after Rear Admiral Rajanathan “Rajan” Kadirgamar who served between 1960 and 70.

Linköping home of SAAB (Defence/Secruity) and IFS (IT) is close to Sri Lanka thanks to good flight connections via Amsterdam.

During the winter months KLM will fly directly from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport to Colombo three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays starting 30 October. The return flight departs on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

For a trip from Linköping on a Friday with a returntrip on a Thursday, the following departure times apply.

Sweden-Sri Lanka Business Council

The purpose of Sweden Sri Lanka Business Council (SSLBC) is to promote business, friendship, goodwill and understanding between Sweden and Sri Lanka through personal networks and contacts.
