High Level visits from Sri Lanka

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mangala Samaraweera, was in Sweden on an official two-day visit at the invitation of his Swedish counterpart, Margot Wallström. Two important activites to mention from a business perspective;

"Smart Cities and Sustainable Development Round Table" and

"Sourcing with representatives of the Trade, Fashion and Food Companies"

Lunch for minister Samaraweera hosted by Livsmedelsföretagen

Ms Marie Söderqvist CEO the Swedish Food Federation hosted a lunch for the Foreign Minister. Other guests where for example Chairperson for EDB and some major Swedish food and lifestyle companies.

Good Climate for Business

Sri Lanka registers best air quality in South Asia. 

Nearly 220 million children of South Asia breathe toxic air in the most polluted regions in the world including India, deepening worries over health of minors in several parts of the country, reported India’s Hindustan Times citing a report by UNICEF released in the third quarter of last year.

Sri Lanka is excluded from this list. Experts attribute Sri Lanka’s low air pollution to the stringent vehicle emission testing program the island nation initiated in 2008 resulting in a higher quality of air compared to its neighbours.

Swedish business magazines writes about Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka on the right track. Swedish Dagens Industri recently published an travel article about Sri Lanka but also had a short interview with our member Christina Riddebäck.

"We meet in Colombo, the country's largest city that can be perceived as messy and rather difficult for a first-time visitor. There is no clear city center, traffic is heated and the streets go hither and thither without any seemingly logical system. But Christina Riddebäck has made the city her.

Now she runs away, along with her daughter Cecilia Riddebäck, the company Andromeda Care Solution, which provides training and consulting in the healthcare industry. One area where Sri Lanka on many levels is far behind Sweden, not least when it comes to the care of the elderly."

Chairperson ms Malwatta EDB took the opportunity to visit Formex Fair during her visit to Stockholm. Here she visits Kandygs from Sri Lanka and their stall. Kandygs is also an associated member of Sweden-Sri Lanka Business Council.
